Sisodia, MD, and Marcela G. del Carmen, MD, MPH, emphasize that all patients with a high-risk lesion of the ovary or fallopian tube should be referred to a gynecologic oncologist, as multiple studies have shown comprehensive surgical staging and tumor debulking is associated with improved overall survival.

Initiating Oral Contraception Does Not Change Gut Microbiome in Healthy Women
Xinwei Hua, PhD, MPH, Hamed Khalili, MD, MPH, and colleagues found that oral contraception initiation was not associated with a significant change in the gut microbiome composition in healthy women, although the relative abundance of certain metabolic pathways increased.

History of Infertility in Women Linked to Risk of Future Heart Failure
Emily S. Lau, MD, MPH, Jennifer E. Ho, MD, and colleagues found infertility in women is associated with a 16% greater risk of heart failure overall. This was driven by a 27% greater risk of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, but not heart failure with reduced ejection fraction.
