Female physicians tend to delay childbearing and have higher rates of infertility than nonphysicians. Now, Erika Rangel, MD, and colleagues have shown that when female physicians use assisted reproduction technology, their pregnancy outcomes are as good as or better than those of female nonphysicians.

Erika L. Rangel, MD, MS, is a surgeon in the Division of Trauma, Emergency Surgery and Surgical Critical Care in the Department of Surgery and associate program director of the General Surgery Residency Program at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Rangel is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School.
