On July 8, 2021, the inaugural Massachusetts Medical Grand Rounds was held on structural inequities during COVID-19 featuring experts for hospitals and universities in Massachusetts. Massachusetts General Hospital's Joseph R. Betancourt, MD, MPH, senior vice president of Equity and Community Health, spoke on lessons and reflections about promoting equity from COVID-19. 

The session was moderated by Katrina Armstong, MD, physician-in-chief in the Department of Medicine at Mass General. Other speakers included Leonor Fernández, MD, co-chair, BILH COVID Equity Council, Primary Care, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center; Christin Price, MD, director of Community Programs, Brookside Community Health Center, Brigham and Women’s Hospital; Elena Byhoff, MD MSc, assistant professor, Department of Medicine, Tufts Medical Center, Tufts University School of Medicine, Institute for Clinical Research & Health Policy Studies; Nisha Fahey, DO, MS, global health fellow, Department of Pediatrics, UMass Memorial Medical Center; and Cassandra M. Pierre, MD, MPH, MSc, assistant professor of Medicine, Boston University School of Medicine, medical director of Public Health Programs and associate hospital epidemiologist, Boston Medical Center.
