Biography

Wais Rahmati, MD, MPH, FACS, is a board-certified otolaryngologist–head and neck surgeon in the comprehensive otolaryngology division at Mass Eye and Ear. He is helping to develop a comprehensive salivary gland center with a clinical and research focus on the endoscopic management of salivary gland disorders.

In addition to salivary gland diseases, he is an expert surgical oncologist with vast experience in managing all aspects of head and neck surgery and oncology, skull base surgery, and conditions such as sleep apnea and sinonasal disease.

Prior to joining the Harvard Medical School faculty, he was part of the faculty at Yale University and Columbia University. He is the recipient of numerous patient care awards and resident teaching awards, including New York Top Doctors Rising Stars, Shain Schley Resident Teaching Award, and the Maxwell Abramson Memorial Award for Excellence in Teaching and Service.

Mass Eye and Ear/Mass General Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery

A teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, Mass Eye and Ear/Massachusetts General Hospital combines the expertise of highly specialized ear, nose, and throat physicians, audiologists, speech-language pathologists and auxiliary health care professionals to provide care for patients with problems affecting the ear, nose, throat, head and neck areas. The department, which is led by Chief and Chair Mark A. Varvares, MD, FACS, is one of the largest otolaryngology–head and neck surgery (OHNS) departments in the country, with more than 70 physicians staffed at 15 locations in the greater Boston area.
