Novel AI Model Predicts Risk of Hepatic Toxicity After Radiation Therapy for HCC
Mass General Cancer Center researchers have created a new machine learning approach to predict an individual patient's risk of hepatic toxicity after conformal radiation therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma: training convolutional neural networks on differential dose-volume histograms as well as clinical factors.
Biography
As Director of Gastrointestinal Radiation Oncology and co-Director of the Tucker Gosnell Center for Gastrointestinal Cancers at Massachusetts General Hospital, Dr. Hong is closely involved in patient care and clinical research. His research involves clinical trials with advanced radiation and integration with targeted therapies. Dr. Hong collaborates closely with basic scientists to bring new agents to clinical trial. Additionally, he is interested in biomarkers that predict outcomes to radiation or chemoradiation.
