At Massachusetts General Hospital, a multifaceted, OB/GYN department-wide effort has substantially decreased the standard number of opioid tablets prescribed for post-cesarean pain control by 50%.
Biography
Marie Henderson, CNM, MSN, is a staff nurse-midwife in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. She currently works with pregnant patients with substance use disorders in the HOPE Clinic. Her clinical interests include nutrition, obesity, labor management, family planning and substance use disorders. Marie previously served as chief of the Nurse-Midwifery Service. She received her BA at the University of Mary, Bismark and her MSN at the University of Rhode Island.
