Biography

Mark Fairweather, MD, is a graduate of Hanover College in Hanover, IN and received his medical degree from the University of Louisville, KY. He completed a residency in General Surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital followed by a fellowship in Complex General Surgical Oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery and Complex General Surgical Oncology.

Dr. Fairweather's clinical interests include cancers of the gastrointestinal tract and soft-tissue sarcomas. His research efforts have made him a leading national and international academic and clinical expert in the management of soft tissue sarcomas. He has been involved in nearly 40 landmark sarcoma studies, of which several have ultimately defined consensus statements on the optimal management of these patients.

In addition, Dr. Fairweather is devoted to medical education and serves as an associate program director for the Brigham and Women's Hospital General Surgery Residency and as program director for Mass General Brigham/Dana-Farber Complex General Surgical Oncology Fellowship at Harvard Medical School.
