Social Frailty Index Predicts Mortality in Older Adults
Sachin J. Shah, MD, MPH, and colleagues have developed an easy-to-use Social Frailty Index. In a nationally representative cohort of older adults, they found that just 10 social predictors meaningfully stratified four-year mortality risk—better than the Charlson Comorbidity Index or Lee Index.

Sachin J. Shah, MD, MPH, is a physician–investigator in the Division of General Internal Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and an assistant professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.
