Sunil Puria, PhD, and Nam Hyun Cho, PhD, determined in animal model that the reticular lamina within the organ of Corti does not move as a stiff plate near the outer hair cells in the ear but rather might bend or stretch, a finding that has implications for improving understanding of cochlear amplification.
Biography
Sunil Puria, PhD, is an Amelia Peabody scientist in the Eaton-Peabody Laboratories at Mass Eye and Ear and an associate professor of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at Harvard Medical School.
