New Online Resource Offers Multimedia EKG Training
A Massachusetts General Hospital-developed online medical education tool helps trainees and other medical professionals learn to interpret electrocardiograms.
Biography
Dr. Salik is a board-certified non-invasive cardiologist who sees patients with a variety of cardiovascular conditions, both in the ambulatory setting and on the inpatient cardiovascular services. He has developed a particular interest in patients with pericardial disease and is a member of the Massachusetts General Hospital Pericardial Disease Program. He is also a member of the MGH Echocardiography and Electrocardiography Laboratories, where he reads transthoracic echocardiograms (TTEs) and electrocardiograms (EKGs). In addition, he is actively involved in educational leadership and currently serves as the Assistant Inpatient Education Director within the Cardiology Division and the Associate Program Director for Elective Training within the Internal Medicine Residency Program.
Dr. Salik earned his BA at Amherst College in musicology and received his MD at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he also served as Chief Medical Resident. Dr. Salik has cultivated expertise within the field of cardiovascular medical education, particularly within technology-enhanced learning, and he received a Master of Science in Health Professions Education (MS-HPEd) at the Boston University School of Medicine. In addition, Dr. Salik completed the Mass General Simulation Fellowship in collaboration with the Gilbert Program of Medical Simulation at Harvard Medical School, and he was selected to serve as a Harvard Macy Scholar in the Harvard Macy Institute Program for Educators in Health Professions. Dr. Salik currently serves as the director of the Harvard Medical School Continuing Education Channel, a novel collaboration between Harvard Medical School and Google/YouTube Health, and he is a member of multiple educational committees within the American College of Cardiology.
His awards and honors include induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, the Columbia University Chair of Medicine Award and Outstanding Service Award (2015), the Roman DeSanctis Clinical Scholar Award (2019), and multiple clinical teaching awards.
