Cognitive Impairment Not a Contraindication to ECT in Older Adults
Michael E. Henry, MD, James Luccarelli, MD, DPhil, and colleagues observed that older patients who had cognitive impairment prior to starting electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) did not worsen after 10 sessions of ECT—overall, cognition for these individuals actually improved with treatment.
