Risk of Preterm Birth Due to Phenol Exposure Specific to Female Infants
Carmen Messerlian, PhD, of the Vincent Center for Reproductive Biology, and colleagues found preliminary evidence that preterm birth is associated with mid- to late pregnancy concentrations of bisphenol A and early-pregnancy paraben concentrations—but only among female infants.
Biography
Carmen Messerlian, PhD, is a research fellow in the Vincent Center for Reproductive Biology and Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Messerlian is also an assistant professor of Environmental Reproductive, Perinatal, and Pediatric Epidemiology at Harvard School of Public Health.
